On average it will take two (2) business days to format an e-book (Kindle/mobi + ePub) and seven (7) business days to design a print-ready PDF file.

You will be able to make unlimited design revisions for up to five (5) days after receiving review files.

We require 50% of payment upfront and the rest upon completion of your order.

If you have a special request (e.g. a discount for submitting multiple manuscripts) please contact us.

Note: Amazon requires mobi files meant for their Kindle bookstore to be converted using their "Kindlegen" app. But Amazon does not allow Kindlegen-based files to be sold outside of the Amazon-Kindle bookstore, so we'll provide separate Kindle-mobi files for both Amazon and third-party book stores.

How We Work

STEP 1: Send us your manuscript and tell us what kind of files you want created (e.g. Kindle, pdf, etc.).
Note: You don't need to do any special formatting to your manuscript. Just send us what you have and we'll take care of the rest.

STEP 2: We'll review your request and send you a price quote.

STEP 3: If you accept the price quote, we will send you an invoice for 50% of the agreed upon price. You can pay by credit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express), but if you would like to use an alternative payment method, we might be able to accomodate you.

STEP 4: We will design your file(s). (We will fix any missing or inconsistent formatting in your manuscript.)

STEP 5: We will send you our completed work and you can review the result. For no addditional charge, you can request design and formatting modification up to 5 days after we deliver the finished file(s).

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you support curly quotes?

Yes. We can convert straight quotes into curly quotes so they can be displayed by e-readers that support them.

Can I make special requests?

Yes. But we decide which requests we will accept on a case-by-case basis.

Can you format fixed layout books (e.g. a children's book)?

Sorry. We do not currently offer that service.

I didn't really use any styles for my manuscript, is that okay?

We format yoour manuscript if you text is logically, consistently organized. (e.g. new chapters beginning on a new line with the title in bold or maybe plain text prefaced by the chapter number followed by a arabic or roman numeral.)

Can you have my chapter numbers spelled out?

Yes. Even if you have added chapter numbers to your manuscript (or maybe you used arabic or romain numerals) we can still display chapter number headings with the number spelled out.

Can I embed fonts in my e-book?

Yes. But you shouldn't use more than one or two custom fonts in an e-book or else you text will look noisy and difficult to read. Also, you shouldn't use custom fonts for the body text—e-readers have built-it fonts that are optimized for readability, let's not interfere with that.

Do you offer any other services like cover design, manuscript editing, marketing, etc.?

No. We only offer book formatting. But, if you need advice or recommendations, feel free to email us <support@thedigitalbindery.com>.
